Purpose

The Stress Engineer will be responsible for analysis, evaluation, and technical validation of structural design concepts for components as part of development projects of new aerostructures for M1’s customers and internal product development.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Define scope of work for development projects to support proposals and quotes;
  • Perform analysis, evaluation, and technical validation of structural design concepts;
  • Guide and lead design and stress resources (internal and external) to develop them and execute the scope of work in development projects;
  • Prepare and execute tests to certify the parts developed at M1;
  • Support the airworthiness process to ensure designed components meet all customer and certification authority requirements;
  • Coordinate activities with project management and customer accounts to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets;
  • Prepare stress and test reports and other deliverables as part of the design and stress activities;
  • Act as a subject matter expert in to support repair and manufacturing activities.

 

 Ideal profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in aviation/aerospace;
  • Strong knowledge of composite and sheet metal structures, preferably with in-service/repair experience;
  • TCCA DE or candidate DE, a strong asset;
  • Experience in aerospace development programs;
  • Experience in development and technical leadership of engineering teams;
  • Strong knowledge of FEA tools and software (NASTRAN/PATRAN, Fibersim, Hypermesh or other);
  • Experience in managing and leading R&D projects (an asset);
  • Ability to manage technical meetings in a customer-facing position;
  • Knowledge of aircraft technical publications (AMM, SRM, CMM, IPC, etc) (an asset).
  • Bilingual English and French, spoken and written.
