Purpose
Reporting directly to the president, the Quality Manager leads a team in overseeing M1 Composites’ quality assurance program, including leading audits and providing technical training. The Manager is part of the Direction committee and is expected to collaborate with the other functions to achieve the company’s goal and objectives.
Objectives
- Developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer standards.
- Leading internal and external audits for current and new certifications and approvals.
Main Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and promote a strong safety and quality culture across the organization.
- Monitor compliance with aeronautical regulations, company procedures (MPM), customer requirements and industry certifying entities (i.e., TCCA DAO/AMO, EASA AMO and other foreign approvals, ISO9001, AS9110 and AS9100) and internal requirements (processes and procedures).
- Investigate non-conformities, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other departments to ensure integrated quality practices.
- Report quality metrics and KPIs to senior management and recommend areas for improvement.
Audits
- Respond to audit’s reports and customer issued corrective action requests.
- Control all internal documentation (creation, release, and revision) and ensure quality control procedures are properly communicated and followed.
- Obtain new certifications or approvals according to business needs.
- Maintain and update quality documentation, manuals, and procedures
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and certification bodies
Technical Training
- Provide training and coaching to staff on technical and quality-related issues and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring (Qualifications/Skills)
- College diploma (DEC) in aerospace, mechanical or industrial engineering or any other relevant education/experience.
- 8-10 years of experience in a similar position (quality management), in aerospace field (MRO).
- Strong knowledge of Transport Canada and ISO/AS standards.
- Mandatory experience in an MRO/Technical Operations environment.
- Previous experience in aircraft manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Previous experience in defense manufacturing is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
- Familiarity with aircraft maintenance documentation, manuals and records management.
- Meticulous and attention to details.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Quality System in OEM’s.
- Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 or equivalent) is an asset
- Bilingual (French and English*).
* The position requires a very good knowledge of English, both oral and written. The position involves reading and understanding technical documents in English on a daily basis, especially from international companies, as well as regular communication with customers, suppliers and other international stakeholders.
